10 outdoor team-building games for 2026

Spring is coming, warmer and longer days are ahead. It’s a nice time to plan for an outdoor team-building game with your colleagues! I’ve listed 10 games that are definitely fun to play in 2026.

01. Scavenger Hunt

Give your colleagues a list of items to find outdoors. They can take a picture of whatever they find and submit it to the host. The first person to complete the list wins. Outdoor items can be benches, cars, trees, flowers, stray cats, etc.

02. Treasure Hunt

Find a nice park to play around in. Hide some treasure and spread clues around the location. The players have to gather as many clues as possible to find the treasure location. Each clue can have a riddle: Getting the hint needs a correct answer.

You can either build such a game with paper and pen, or you can use mobile devices with GPS-based clues (and treasure). For the latter, you can try Loquiz to generate your very own treasure hunt game.

03. Outdoor QR hunt

Choose a nice outdoor place like a park or a forest. Next, print a series of QR codes and stick them in hidden locations. Then the fun can begin! Once the player scans the QR, they get a riddle to solve. And the more they answer correctly, the more points they get. In the end, you can make a ranking.

04. City Escape game

Escape rooms can be fun for team building, but they’re indoor. Let’s enjoy an outdoor setup! For this, you can buy any city escape game. If you type the name of your closest big city, you’ll easily find one.

That kind of game is fun because your team immerses itself in a story that interacts with real-life. For example, if you’re in Amsterdam, you can try the “Escape Tour Amsterdam“. I tried it myself, it was fun to enjoy a story based on the painter Rembrandt, and discover many local points of interest.

05. 100 Coins

Do you enjoy darts? You have to score a certain amount, not more, not less. What if I tell you you could play a similar game, but in an outdoor setup?

With the 100 coins, go to different locations to collect coins. The first team to win is the one with exactly 100 coins. On this page, I explain how you can set this game up in your own area!

06. Tour

What if you take advantage of this sunny weather to rediscover your local city with your colleagues through a tour? If you Google “self-guided tour + your city”, you’ll probably find a lot of results. These became quite popular, and many companies now offer them.

07. Photo Hunt

Offer a list of photo challenges to your colleagues:

• Take a selfie with somebody who has acted in a movie. A Paparazzo selfie is enough.
• Find someone who likes to do crosswords. Take a selfie with them.
• Find someone whose first name has the same length as yours. Take a selfie together.
• etc

The first one to succeed in all the challenges wins! Play this in a park, when the sun shines, when people are delighted to go outside!

08. Misfits Hunt

09. Trivia game

Choose your own outdoor location (such as a park), and then add GPS-activated tasks with trivia questions. Such as:

• Nowadays, dinosaurs are still living on our planet. But they have a different name. What animals are they?
• You walk into a luxury hotel, and its lobby room is (slightly) radioactive. Why so?
• Who is the oldest cat every existing?
• etc (I’ve made many more here, and you’ll find answers to the previous trivia questions)

If you want a game base with GPS activated task, I recommend you try the Rogain. The aim is simple: During a certain period of time (for example, 20 minutes), go and answer as many trivia questions as possible.

10. Running game

Imagine a challenge: People have to run a certain distance. Not a challenging length, just enough to include everyone in your team. You add a few checkpoints where the players have to stop and answer a quiz. They can only resume running if they answer correctly. With that little challenge, you’ll make doing sport fun for your workmates!
