Using tabs in winter

Using tablets in cold weather usually raises three questions

1. Does the screen work?

2. Does the battery hold?

3. How do you use the device with gloves on?

The answer to the first two questions is easy – yes and yes. In cold weather it is a very good idea to use protective cases or bags. The heat generated by the processor and screen is then preserved. We have found during testing that having something around your device makes a huge difference to the battery life.

The third question is not so easy to answer. Anybody who has tried to use the smart-phone with gloves knows it is next to impossible. I have sometimes used my tongue when answering calls while biking. Tongue is obviously not an option in an adventure game and constantly taking your gloves off is cumbersome at best.

All is not lost however. There are ways to use the tabs. Namely special gloves and styluses. Of these two options, the stylus is not the best choice because it does not allow easy zoom, they get lost and many of them do not work while wearing thick gloves.

So special gloves are the way to go for winter. Search will give you a lot of options, but if you are starting we can provide you with gloves. In cold weather hand out at least one pair per team and you will have much happier players.
