Winter is coming, and most companies will understandably not request outdoor games. It’s especially the case during the high season of December, before Christmas (unless you live in the Southern hemisphere!).
What if someone comes to you and asks for something that makes their attendees move? In this article, I’ll give you 3 ideas of games that make people move during the winter.
Perhaps, we can’t run outside using the GPS on our device. What if we run outside, in our corridors? That might be suitable if you plan a team-building event in some large office complexes.
In this game, print and stick QR codes all over an indoor area. Then find a way to use your device to scan as many of these QR codes as possible. Players will have to run the fastest if they want to earn as many points as possible! And they won’t even need to go outdoors for this.
Our platform Loquiz allows you to set up a QR hunt game in no time. Check this game template out! You can set it up anywhere, including in your client’s location. We even deliver the PDF files with the QR codes to print. If you have an account, click here to create a QR Hunt. If not, you can create your own account for free.

For most people, a workout might not be the most fun activity to do. That’s where gamification comes into play! Add a way to reward the players for completing a full set of workouts. No need to be demanding; we just want the players to move indoors while having fun. Let them do push-ups, jumping jacks, squats, high knees, march, etc.
You could make a list of workouts and add funny photo tasks to take during each performance. That will be a memorable time for your client, without the need to go outside!
This one works well if you plan a hybrid or remote event: You can transfer the workout list through an online platform like Google Sheets or Loquiz.
Just one piece of advice: Make sure you don’t call it “sport” to your players. It has to be fun; it shouldn’t be associated with something that requires commitment, like going to the gym.

More generally, instead of work-outs, there are indoor challenges you could use to make players move. I personally have one in mind that I enjoyed. Half of my office was going on a business trip in South Africa (where it was summer!), so the other half got to endure the cold winter… But we had a fun indoor challenge!
Everyone had their eyes covered. We could only crawl, and we had to capture an item and bring it back to our base. Because we were slow, blind crawlers, we didn’t need a lot of space. And yet, it was an insanely fun moving challenge!
There are many more indoor challenges like this that make your player move:
Important Note: Team-building games that involve physical activity can be fun, but ensure your clients don’t force every participant to join in. A game is only enjoyable if people are willing to play. Additionally, some participants may have disabilities that prevent them from participating fully. I advise preparing a “Plan B” and “Plan C” so that every player feels included.
If you lack an idea to satisfy your client’s request, or if you want more information on one game idea in the list, I can help you! Just contact me by email, and I’ll be delighted to help you.
