On Instructor Count

A little over week ago I had a chance to hang out with some of the most active users of Loquiz. These were outdoor and event companies around the world. Among other things we were discussing also Loquiz – how and why it is used.

There are many reasons and many ways to use Loquiz, but one outcame kept popping up in almost every discussion – with Loquiz we use less instructors per event.

How much less?

“Instead of 6 instructors per game we are using 2” or “Instead 5 we are using 1”.

Loquiz essence is to help You to bring your game ideas to life. Make them better than they were before and make them more efficient. For example, instead of printing paper maps use electronic maps – more efficient.

But lets face it – the biggest cost factor of these instructor heavy games are people. So, naturally if we say more efficient, then eliminating instructors is a game changer. What was surprising for me was the size of the change. In my mind, you would cut 1 out of 5 instructors or maybe even 2 out of 6, but cutting 4 out of 5 is a big shift.

What do you think – is this the future of outdoor games? For some companies running games with 1 instructor has been a norm for
already many-many years . Or will best and most challenging games continue to be instructor heavy?

BTW, Loquiz has the means to include instructors with Activity Stations, so it should make the game more efficient even if the instructor count stays the same.
