These are some common tasks about how to run games with clients:
I entered event username but the TEST option is missing!
You can only test games when you have logged in with your Loquiz PRO webpage username or with special instructor username (instructor is a user that has no rights in Loquiz PRO but can start and test all open events). Logging in with event-specific username, only allows to start a game or resume a game. So even if you are distributing event-specific username and password to the players, they cannot run the game in the test mode.
I cannot install (or even see ) Loquiz application in Google Play / App store
Not all the devices are supported by Loquiz. You need at least Android version 8.0+ or iOS version 13.0+ to install Loquiz. Please make sure you have internet connection when trying to install Loquiz app.
I cannot enter the team name and start the game
Make sure:
- you have enough teams on your account (check it on Loquiz PRO webpage menu (upper right corner) -> Billing);
- you have not set the limit for the teams for the specific event (check it by opening the game for editing under “Gonfiguration” tab -> Additional settings).
- your device has internet connection.
I am at right location but task does not open
Make sure you that you have started the game – pressed “Start” after reading welcome text – and that you have entered a team name.
This problem can occur also when there is poor GPS coverage. If location accuracy is worse than 100 meters, then Loquiz will not activate the tasks. GPS does not work well on narrow streets, in the forest and indoors. Move to an open place to regain the GPS signal. You are outdoors, are you?
Also, check that your phone cover or case does not have magnets inside. Magnets will make the compass inside the device go wild and this makes orienteering very difficult.
Player closed the game accidentally. What now?
Just start Loquiz app again and on login screen choose “Continue last game”. Your game continues where you left off. Internet connection is not needed to continue the game.
Battery died on one device. What now?
No problem, Loquiz is built so that the player can resume to the game on another device (only possible if the internet connection during the game was good and results are uploaded to the server).
How to resume to the game with the same team:
- Just grab a new device, log in with your email or with event-specific username, start the same game and on team name’s inserting dialogue, choose “or resume with existing team”.
- Choose the correct team name and you can continue from the last saved position. Important – playing with the same team on multiple devices simultaneously, will screw up the game and results!
Resuming is not possible if team has finished the game.
Teams are playing but results are not updated
Teams are probably missing the internet connection. No problem, game still works, but photos, videos and results are uploaded to the server only if internet connection is present. In some cases teams play the entire game without realizing internet connection is missing. If this happens, make sure to create the internet connection for the device at the end of the game (Wi-Fi works fine) and press the Sync button to re-upload the results. This will update the results table. If you are unable to get internet back on, use the results table in the device (Menu > Score) to see results for this team.
Loquiz does not show my location
In case of outdoor game, make sure you are outside and using a smart device that has GPS. Read more about suitable devices.
If the location works in Map application and not in Loquiz, then it might be the problem with Application permissions. Make sure that you have given Loquiz app the permissions to use location and camera. On Android, to check and change permissions, go to main Settings > Apps > Loquiz > Permissions.
How do I close the application?
Just choose exit from Loquiz main menu and confirm your choice with yes, or :
- iOS: click the Home button twice and swipe up on the screen.
- Android: press back button and choose “Yes” to exit the game.
