Learn fractions in a fun way thanks to gamification

We use fractions almost every day, and while they’re taught in school, they can be tough for our youngest students to grasp. However, learning them is incredibly worthwhile! So, what if we made learning easier through gamification?

In this article, I offer you a walking game. Enjoy the sunny summer, and have fun while moving. The more your students move as they learn, the easier it will be for them to integrate that knowledge. Let’s see it in more detail!

Try the Fraction game out

Just download Loquiz (Apple App Store or Android Play Store), then scan the following QR code:

Username: fraction
Password: 123

Did you have fun? You can create a game like this entirely by yourself! In the next paragraph, I’m going to show you the logic for that game.

Game logic

So here’s the full game logic:

On the left, the logic will determine where the submarine appears on the Playground. The middle part determines which task to open according to the walking distance. As you can see, it opens a task every 50 meters. On the right part, we open a task for the bonus question. The answer will determine what multiplier bonus will apply to the player.

And on the bottom, we determine when the game finishes. When task 25 is finished, then the game finishes.

Here’s the playground. As you can notice, we need to show the submarine location for each case.

If you have any questions regarding the game’s rules or the gamification of any topic, feel free to send me a message!
