Of screens and eyes

Loquiz is built onto a smart platform. To play the games you need to look at your phone or tablet. It is controversy – while we make people move we also make them spend more time behind the screen.

I am a father of two young daughters, so the issue is of personal interest.

Is looking at the screen bad for your eyes? In short yes it is. But, not for the reasons, you might think. Talking to an eye doctor she explained that the problem is not so much the phone, but the absence of everything else.

In simple terms, it turns out that we have changed our viewing habits. We are mainly looking close (indoors) or really close (screen). We spend less time outdoors and do not look far away. So the muscles in your eyes become strained. You need to exercise and relax them by focusing on different distances.

When working with a computer there is a recommendation to stop and look out of the window now and then. Well, when we stop we look at our phone and even if we would look out the window this would not be enough. You need to spend time outdoors and allow your eyes to focus farther than a few meters.

Playing Loquiz you are looking at the screen occasionally, but then focusing on faraway objects trying to locate you in the surroundings. That should be a good exercise for your eyes.

Tip: you can add an audio clip to each task that plays automatically when task opens. So you spend even less time at the screen.
