“Sportsday 2018” city adventure game engaging 4500 participants – case study

“Sportsday 2018” took place on 26.-27. of September 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia. This is among the biggest events created with Loquiz, engaging over 4500 participants. Spordicom created this city adventure with Loquiz platform. The games were played on participants own smartphones and altogether 1100 teams joined in this gamification experience!

The event was held for the third time, this year in Medieval Tallinn Old town and Freedom Square  and was dedicated to make movement and sport outdoor more interesting and competing.

Students formed 3-4 person teams and moved on the tracks with a game created by Spordicom with Loquiz..

There were three different age groups and tracks. The winners were sorted out by the number correct answers, solving tasks in activity stations and time spent to complete the track.

Total of 12 Tallinn schools participated and despite the stormy weather on the event days, 91% of participants finished! The main reason for quitting were rainy, windy and cold weather or batteries running empty on smartphones.

The event included 50 volunteers and main organizing team- head organizer Erik Kangilaski, volunteer coordinator  Merilin Jõesaar, competition centre lead Kathy-Karmen Kale, start and finish lead Viktoria Berting, trail lead Tiina-Maria Tali, construction lead Endo Kask and media lead Kristo Kõrgnurm.
