These are rough estimates on how much data one game uses.
Download volumes
At the beginning of the game (you can use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data):
Game file is downloaded to the mobile device. For an average game, volumes are less than 100 kB.
Media (in the Tasks, playground etc.) are also downloaded at the beginning of the game but after Game file.
Then a map of the area is downloaded as well, volumes are usually less than 1 MB.
In case you are using picture overlay on your map, also this picture is downloaded. Size depends on the image size. Generally, it should not be more than 1-2 MB.
During the game:
If user switches from normal map to Satellite view (Aerial image) 1-5 MB is added.
If you add image as a media to the task, then these will be downloaded when the internet connection is present. Volumes are from 100 kB up to 5 MB depending on the size of the image(s).
If you add video as a media to the task, then these are streamed from the internet directly, so it might add from 1 MB up to 10-20 MB per video.
In case you have added web page as a media to the task then these are also accessed through the internet when opened. It might add from 100 kB up to several MBs.
Upload volumes
We are uploading game data (results, location etc.) to the server after each answer. If the internet connection is not present, then this transfer is delayed. The volume for an average game does not exceed 100 kB for the entire game.
If you have a photo task (the tasks where teams need to make photos to answer) or video task in a game, then photos/videos are uploaded with reduced quality. One photo size usually does not exceed 500 kB, but this depends on the device and photo/video itself.
How to monitor Loquiz application’s mobile data usage?
You can find out how much cellular data you are using in your device’s settings.
Android – to see how much data Loquiz uses monthly, navigate to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Data Usage. If you scroll down, you will see the cellular data usage by app. Note that these charts only show data sent through your cellular data connection and not your Wi-Fi connection. If you want to see your Wi-Fi data usage as well, hit the menu button and select “Show Wi-Fi usage.”
iOS – to see how much cellular data Loquiz has used, go to Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data. If you’re using an iPad, you might see Settings > Cellular Data instead. Scroll down to find Loquiz app.
